Before and after examples

Each pair is one SUV photo and the same photo after one Modification Goals request, sent to the image model that Custom Vision uses but with more processing steps than the live tool default, so your own render may be rougher. The full request text sits under each pair.

BeforeAI-drawn sample: a white generic mid-size SUV stand-in on silver wheels with road tires parked on a dirt road beside trees
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same white SUV on matte black wheels with knobby tires
White generic mid-size SUV stand-in. Modification Goals: "Change ONLY the wheels and tires: replace the silver wheels with matte black wheels and fit all-terrain tires; keep the white paint, grille, headlights, bumper, ride height, dirt road, trees and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: both visible wheels are now matte black, and the tires have a rougher, knobbier tread. The paint, grille, headlights, bumper, road and trees look the same, and we see no change in ride height. Extra changes: none that we could see. The smudged dark patch on the grille was in the before.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a dark green generic mid-size SUV stand-in on silver multi-spoke wheels parked at a trailhead with pine trees behind
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same green SUV on bronze-colored wheels
Dark green generic mid-size SUV stand-in. Modification Goals: "Change ONLY the wheels: replace the silver wheels with satin bronze wheels; keep the green paint, grille, headlights, bumper, tires, ride height, pine trees and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: both visible wheels are now bronze, and the paint, grille, headlights, bumper, tires and pine trees look the same. Partly followed: the color reads as copper-brown rather than dark bronze, and the spoke design looks a little different from the original wheel, which we did not ask for. Extra changes: none other that we could see.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a gray generic mid-size SUV stand-in with a plain roof, parked on a suburban street
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same gray SUV with a black open-frame roof rack
Gray generic mid-size SUV stand-in. Modification Goals: "Add a black metal roof rack on the roof; keep the gray paint, wheels, tires, grille, headlights, bumper, ride height, street, houses and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: a black open-frame rack now sits on the roof, and the paint, wheels, tires, grille, headlights, bumper, street and houses look the same. Note: the rack is a generic drawing that stands tall above the roof and looks wider than a real rack would on this body. Extra changes: none that we could see.

All before and after images are AI-drawn samples from our own image model, not photos of real 4Runners or customer vehicles. The SUVs are generic mid-size crossover-style stand-ins; they are not boxy like a real 4Runner and a real one will look different. The first drafts showed Toyota-like emblems on the grille, so we ran an extra edit that removed emblems and lettering; it left a smudged dark patch in the middle of the grille on some images. Those are AI artifacts, not brand logos. Under each pair we list which parts of the request worked, which did not, and any change we never asked for.

Try the look on your own 4Runner

Catalog pages show a wheel on a studio vehicle. Your 4Runner has its own paint, its own stance and its own tires. WheelAI redraws your photo with the change you describe, so you can compare black wheels with bronze on the same SUV, or see how a roof rack changes the profile.

Toyota and 4Runner are trademarks of their owner. WheelAI is not affiliated with or endorsed by Toyota, no Toyota logos are used here, and the example vehicles below are AI-drawn generic SUVs, not real 4Runners.

How to preview wheels, tires or a rack on a 4Runner

There is no special 4Runner mode. The Modifications tool edits any vehicle, and its Custom Vision mode takes your own wording.

  1. 1

    Take the photo

Stand at a front corner in daylight. For wheels, make sure both visible wheels are in the frame; for a roof rack, make sure the whole roofline is.

  2. 2

    Open the Modifications tool

Upload your photo and switch to Custom Vision.

  3. 3

Write the change and what stays

In the Modification Goals box, say what changes (for example the wheel finish) and list what must stay the same: paint, grille, tires, background and camera angle.

  4. 4

    Compare and refine

Look at the result next to your original. If one part is wrong, ask for that part alone in the next run.

Wheel finishes that suit a boxy SUV

Matte or satin black

Black wheels suit almost every paint color and give an off-road look, especially with all-terrain tires.

Bronze

Bronze stands out on green, black, white and gray. In our example it read closer to copper than to dark bronze, so name the shade you want.

Machined or silver

Lighter finishes keep a factory look and suit road use. They are the easiest to confuse with the original wheel in a render.

Tires matter as much

Tire height and tread change the stance more than the wheel color. Ask for all-terrain tires only if you mean it, and name the tread style.

Roof racks and other additions

A roof rack is one of the most common 4Runner additions, and the render lets you see its general look before you buy. It does not know your roof, its load rating or the maker of any rack.

  • Say the color and type, such as a black open-frame rack.
  • List what must stay the same, such as paint, wheels and background.
  • Expect the rack to be drawn as a generic shape that may be wider or taller than a real one.
  • Check height clearance for garages and the vehicle rules where you drive.

A look, not a fitment check

The render shows whether you like a look. It knows nothing about offset, load rating, tire clearance or whether a part is made for your generation, and it shows no real brand products or prices. Ask a shop to confirm anything you plan to buy, and check local rules if you change ride height or add equipment.

Photo tips

  • Use daylight and avoid harsh shadows across the wheels.
  • Hold the camera at about headlight height.
  • Keep the front wheels pointing straight ahead.
  • Leave space around the vehicle in the frame, and include the roof if you want a rack.
  • Use the same photo for every idea so the comparisons are fair.

Three Modification Goals to paste

We used these requests for the examples. Copy one into Modification Goals, swap the colors and background words for your own, and delete anything that does not apply.

  • Change ONLY the wheels and tires: replace the silver wheels with matte black wheels and fit all-terrain tires; keep the white paint, grille, headlights, bumper, ride height, dirt road, trees and the camera angle exactly the same
  • Change ONLY the wheels: replace the silver wheels with satin bronze wheels; keep the green paint, grille, headlights, bumper, tires, ride height, pine trees and the camera angle exactly the same
  • Add a black metal roof rack on the roof; keep the gray paint, wheels, tires, grille, headlights, bumper, ride height, street, houses and the camera angle exactly the same

What the AI does well and where it slips

Wheel finishes and simple additions usually come out well and the rest of the photo mostly stays put. Spoke designs and exact shades are less reliable, and small marks on grilles can appear or disappear. If a render misses, rerun it with shorter, plainer wording.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free 4Runner wheel visualizer that uses my own photo?

Yes. Sign in with email or Google, upload a photo of your 4Runner, and describe the wheels, tires or roof rack you want in the Modification Goals box. Most new accounts get 5 free credits that last 30 days, and a standard render uses 1 credit. Free renders carry a WheelAI watermark. Catalog visualizers from wheel shops show their wheels on a stock vehicle; this one edits your own picture.

Which wheel finishes can I try on a 4Runner?

Any finish you can describe: matte or gloss black, bronze, gunmetal, machined, silver or white. Our examples use matte black and satin bronze on stand-in SUVs. Name the finish and the style, because a bare "new wheels" request leaves the AI free to choose.

Will the wheels in the render fit my 4Runner?

The render cannot say. A picture knows nothing about bolt pattern, offset, hub bore, load rating or brake clearance, and a wheel that looks right can still be wrong for your trim or generation. Check your owner manual and the tire placard in the driver door jamb, and ask a wheel or tire shop before you order.

Can it show a roof rack or other overland additions?

You can ask. Our roof rack example added a black open-frame rack to a stand-in SUV and left the rest of the photo alone. The rack is a drawing, not a real product: it may be wider, taller or flatter than a rack that fits your roof. Ask a rack maker or installer what fits your generation, and what it does to height and wind noise.

Does it work on every 4Runner generation?

It edits the vehicle in your photo and never asks for a model or year, so it should work on any SUV. Our examples are AI-drawn generic stand-ins, not real 4Runner photos, so we have not tested a specific generation. A sharp daylight photo of the whole vehicle matters more than the badge.

What if the AI changes something I did not ask for?

It can. The image model redraws the whole photo. In our wheel examples the tires also looked different in one case because we asked for all-terrain tires, and the spoke design of the bronze wheels may have shifted from the original. Write what must stay the same, compare the result with your original, and rerun if a part drifted.

Is WheelAI affiliated with Toyota?

No. Toyota and 4Runner are trademarks of their owner. WheelAI is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Toyota. The names appear here only to say which vehicle this page is about, and no logos are used.

How is this different from a wheel shop visualizer?

Shop visualizers from wheel retailers let you pick real wheels from their catalog for a listed year and trim, and they say that fitment depends on your fender clearance, suspension, hub bore and bolt pattern. WheelAI has no catalog and no fitment data: you describe a look in words and see it on your own photo. Use it to decide on a style, then use a shop tool or a shop to choose parts that fit.

Ready to plan your 4Runner?

Compare a few wheel finishes, a tire change and a rack on one photo, then bring your favorite to a shop to confirm it fits and what it costs.
