Before and after examples

Each pair shows a truck photo and the same photo after one Modification Goals request. We sent each goal to the same image model the Custom Vision mode uses, at a higher quality setting than the live tool, and kept the better of two renders, so your own render may come out rougher. For pair two, our first wording missed in both renders, so we reworded the goal and ran it twice more. The exact Modification Goals text is printed under each pair.

BeforeAI-drawn sample: a silver Tacoma-style crew cab pickup on silver factory-style wheels parked on a driveway in front of a brick house
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same pickup with satin bronze six-spoke wheels and chunky, blocky off-road tires
Silver Tacoma-style crew cab. Modification Goals: "Replace the silver factory wheels with satin bronze six-spoke off-road wheels and fit chunky all-terrain tires with big tread blocks; keep the silver paint, grille, headlights, bumper, ride height, house, garage, lawn, tree and driveway exactly as they are". Followed: satin bronze six-spoke wheels and much chunkier tires; the body stays at the same height. Partly followed: the tires have big, open tread blocks that look closer to a mud-terrain than an all-terrain, and they are taller, so they fill more of the wheel wells. Extra changes: the rear wheel is drawn with more, thinner spokes than the front, small details around the wheel arches are redrawn slightly, and the faint pattern that was already on the concrete and the mulch bed got a little sharper. The paint, grille, headlights, bumper, house, garage, lawn and tree stayed the same.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a white Tacoma-style crew cab pickup on gray wheels parked on a dirt lot with desert hills behind
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same pickup sitting higher on taller tires with a black steel front bumper, a hoop bar over the grille and a black bar under the doors
White Tacoma-style crew cab. Modification Goals: "Lift the whole truck higher with a visible suspension lift so there is a big gap between the tires and the wheel arches, fit taller and wider mud-terrain tires, replace the front bumper with a flat black steel off-road bumper with no bar above it, and add black tube rock sliders along the bottom of the body under the doors; keep the white paint, the plain black grille with no emblem, headlights, gray wheels, desert hills, fence and dirt ground exactly as they are, and do not add a license plate". Followed: the truck sits clearly higher, with a bigger gap in the front wheel arch and suspension coils showing behind the bumper; taller, chunkier tires, though the tread looks more like an all-terrain than the mud-terrain we asked for; a black steel front bumper; a black bar along the bottom of the body under the doors, which looks more like a slim step than a tube slider. Not followed: a tall hoop bar was drawn above the bumper even though we asked for none. Extra changes: the grille is redrawn smaller with a gray frame, a short black flare was added at the front of the front wheel arch, the mud flap behind the front wheel is gone, the truck is drawn a little larger and turned slightly more toward the camera, and the shadow changed with the new height. The gray wheels, paint, headlights, hills and fence stayed the same, and the small blank sticker on the windshield was already in the before.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a black Tacoma-style regular cab pickup with an empty bed and silver wheels on a gravel road beside pine trees
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same pickup with gloss black wheels, low rails on the bed and a tube hoop holding an LED light bar above the windshield
Black Tacoma-style regular cab. Modification Goals: "Add a black metal bed rack over the open truck bed, add an LED light bar on the front edge of the cab roof, and replace the silver wheels with gloss black off-road wheels; keep the black paint, grille, headlights, bumper, tires, pine trees and gravel road exactly as they are". Followed: gloss black wheels and an LED light bar above the front of the cab roof. Partly followed: the bed rack came out as low black rails on the bed sides joined to a tall tube hoop that arches forward over the cab and holds the light bar, rather than a flat rack sitting over the bed. Extra changes: a second, thinner strip of glowing blue-purple lights appears along the top edge of the windshield. The small item on the front of the roof in the before is no longer visible, with the light bar mount in its place, and the body shifts slightly in the frame. The thin curved line on the bed side behind the door was already in the before. The paint, grille, headlights, bumper, tires, trees and gravel road stayed the same.

Both the before and the after images are AI-drawn samples made with our own image model, not photos of real Tacomas or customer trucks; the trucks are Tacoma-style stand-ins. The AI drew emblems on its first drafts of the before images, and we removed them with extra edit requests before making the afters. Faint marks on some wheel center caps and tire sidewalls are unreadable AI artifacts, not brand names. Each caption says what followed the request, what did not and what the AI changed on its own.

Your own Tacoma, not a catalog picture

Many retailer wheel visualizers start from a stock picture of the truck in a fixed color and angle. WheelAI edits the photo you upload, and not only the wheels: you can see bigger tires, a lifted stance, a steel bumper or a bed rack on your actual Tacoma, with your paint and the parts you already have.

WheelAI is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Toyota. The Tacoma name is used only to say which truck this page is about.

How to preview mods on your Tacoma

There is no separate Tacoma button. You use the Modifications tool and either pick options from its lists or type the change in plain words.

  1. 1

    Take a front three-quarter photo

Shoot the whole truck in daylight from a front corner so the grille, one side, the bed and the wheels are all in the frame.

  2. 2

Open the Modifications tool and upload it

Go to the Modifications tool and upload your photo.

  3. 3

    Pick a mode

Off-Road Modifications has lists for Off-Road Style, Lift Height, Tire & Wheel Setup and Off-Road Accessories. Exterior Modifications has a Wheel Upgrade list. For exact requests, switch to Custom Vision and type what should change, and what must stay, in the Modification Goals box.

  4. 4

    Render, compare and adjust

Generate the image and compare it with your photo. If a part was missed or drawn differently, run it again with clearer words or ask for that part on its own.

Wheels and tires

Finish

Bronze, gloss or satin black, gunmetal and silver all read very differently against the same paint. Render two or three finishes on one photo before you choose.

Spoke style

Six-spoke and split-spoke designs look clean from a distance; multi-spoke and concave wheels look busier. Beadlock-style rings add a rugged look, so ask a shop whether a real beadlock or a look-only ring suits how you drive.

Tread

All-terrain tires have tighter tread blocks; mud-terrain tires have big blocks, wide gaps and chunky shoulders. Name the tread you want. In our first test, all-terrain tires with big blocks came out looking closer to mud-terrains.

Size

Taller tires change the whole stance, but the AI draws a look, not a measured size. Bigger tires can need a lift, trimming or other work, so ask a shop what your truck needs.

Previewing a lift or leveled stance

The Lift Height list offers a Level Kit (1-2"), a Moderate Lift (3-4"), an Aggressive Lift (5-6") and an Extreme Lift (7"+). Treat these as a style hint: the render shows a taller stance, not an exact measured height.

In our Jeep tests, a lift written as a size in inches barely changed the ride height, and even asking for a visible gap gave only a small lift. On the Tacoma, asking for a visible gap between the tires and the wheel arches together with taller tires gave a clearly lifted look, so results vary from photo to photo. For lift types and more examples, see the Lift Kit Visualizer page.

Bumpers, sliders, bed racks and lights

Front bumper

A steel off-road bumper changes the face of the truck more than any other part. In our test the AI added a tall bar above the new bumper even though we asked for none, so say clearly whether you want a flat bumper or a hoop.

Rock sliders

Sliders are steel tubes or plates along the bottom of the body under the doors. In our test they came out as a slim black bar that could pass for a step, so look closely at the result.

Bed rack

A rack over the bed is a popular base for a tent, boxes or a camper setup. Our test rack came out as low rails on the bed sides joined to a tall hoop that arches forward over the cab.

Light bar

An LED light bar over the windshield changes the profile a lot. Expect the AI to decide how it is mounted unless you describe the mount.

Other accessories

The Off-Road Accessories list also offers a front winch, skid plates, an air intake snorkel, an external spare tire and a bull bar.

A look preview, not a fitment check

The render answers one question: do I like how this looks on my Tacoma? It cannot check offset, backspacing, bolt pattern, tire clearance or whether a part is made for your model year, and it does not show real brand products or prices.

Check fitment with a shop before you buy. Rules about lift height, tire coverage and auxiliary lights differ from place to place, so ask a shop or your local authority about those too.

Photo tips for a cleaner render

  • Park on flat ground so the stance in the photo is the real stance.
  • Keep the front wheels straight; a turned wheel is harder for the AI to redraw.
  • Shoot at about headlight height, not from above.
  • Leave space above the cab and behind the bed if you want to try a light bar or a bed rack.
  • Use the same photo for every idea so you compare like with like.

Three Modification Goals you can paste

These are the exact texts behind the examples above. Paste one into the Modification Goals box, swap the color and background words for what is in your photo, and drop any part you do not want.

  • Replace the silver factory wheels with satin bronze six-spoke off-road wheels and fit chunky all-terrain tires with big tread blocks; keep the silver paint, grille, headlights, bumper, ride height, house, garage, lawn, tree and driveway exactly as they are
  • Lift the whole truck higher with a visible suspension lift so there is a big gap between the tires and the wheel arches, fit taller and wider mud-terrain tires, replace the front bumper with a flat black steel off-road bumper with no bar above it, and add black tube rock sliders along the bottom of the body under the doors; keep the white paint, the plain black grille with no emblem, headlights, gray wheels, desert hills, fence and dirt ground exactly as they are, and do not add a license plate
  • Add a black metal bed rack over the open truck bed, add an LED light bar on the front edge of the cab roof, and replace the silver wheels with gloss black off-road wheels; keep the black paint, grille, headlights, bumper, tires, pine trees and gravel road exactly as they are

What the AI can and cannot do

Our image model redraws the whole photo, not just the parts you name, so side effects happen. It usually keeps the paint, cab shape, background and camera angle. In our tests it also added a bar above a bumper we asked to keep flat, reshaped a grille, removed a mud flap, drew rock sliders that look like a slim step, drew a bed rack with an unusual hoop over the cab, added a glowing light strip along the top of a windshield, and made all-terrain tires look more like mud-terrains. If a render misses something, run it again and say more clearly what must change and what must stay, or ask for the missed part on its own.

Frequently asked questions

How can I see new wheels on my Tacoma before I buy them?

Take a clear side or front three-quarter photo of your truck, upload it to the Modifications tool and describe the wheel you have in mind, for example satin bronze six-spoke or gloss black multi-spoke. The render draws that style onto your own Tacoma, so you see it against your paint, trim and stance instead of a stock picture.

What would a lift and bigger tires look like on my Tacoma?

Ask for both in one request: a visible lift with a clear gap between the tires and the wheel arches, plus taller tires. In our test that gave a clearly taller stance. The result is a look, not a measured lift height or tire size, so use it to decide on a direction and then talk numbers with a shop.

Will 33-inch tires fit my Tacoma?

This tool cannot tell you. A photo edit does not check wheel offset, backspacing, tire clearance, rubbing at full lock or whether trimming or a lift is needed for your model year and setup. Check fitment with a tire shop or the part maker before you buy.

What wheel styles can I try on a Tacoma?

Anything you can describe. Split-spoke, six-spoke, multi-spoke, concave and beadlock-style designs all work as words in the Modification Goals box, and the Exterior Modifications mode also has a Wheel Upgrade list with an Off-Road/Rugged option. The AI draws a generic wheel, not a real brand or part number.

Do bronze wheels look good on a Tacoma?

That depends on your paint and taste. Bronze gives strong contrast on silver, white, gray and black trucks, while black wheels give a quieter look. The fastest way to decide is to render the same wheel in two finishes on your own photo and compare them side by side.

Does it work on any Tacoma year or trim?

Yes. The tool edits whatever vehicle is in the photo, so it does not need to know your generation, cab size or trim. A clear daylight photo with the whole truck in frame matters far more than the model year.

Can I change the color of my Tacoma too?

You can describe a new paint or wrap color in Custom Vision, but this page is about wheels, tires, lift and accessories. For full wraps and finishes, see the Car Wrap Visualizer page.

Is WheelAI affiliated with Toyota?

No. WheelAI is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Toyota. We use the Tacoma name only to say which truck this page is about.

Is the Tacoma visualizer free?

You need to sign in with your email or a Google account. Most new accounts get 5 free credits that last 30 days, and a standard render uses 1 credit, so you can try up to 5 builds before deciding whether to buy more. Free renders carry a WheelAI watermark; an active paid plan removes it.

Ready to plan your Tacoma build?

Try two or three wheel, lift and accessory ideas on your own photo, then take the one you like to a shop to check fitment.
