Before and after examples
Each pair is one vehicle photo and the same photo after one Modification Goals request, sent to the image model that Custom Vision uses but with more processing steps than the live tool default, so your own render may be rougher. We picked the best of a few tries for each. The full request text sits under each pair.

All before and after images are AI-drawn samples from our own image model, not photos of real customer vehicles. The SUVs are generic. We asked for blank grilles, though small badges and unreadable lettering can appear as AI artifacts. Under each pair we list which parts of the request worked, which did not, and any change we never asked for.
See a wrap color on your own SUV first
A color-change wrap changes how a whole SUV looks, and an SUV has a lot of tall flat panel in the doors and tailgate. Wrap shops and film makers show colors on swatches or sample vehicles. Your SUV has its own shape, roof rails, wheels and light, so WheelAI redraws your photo with the body in the color and finish you describe.
The example SUVs below are AI-drawn generic crossovers, not photos of real customer vehicles, and no vehicle maker is affiliated with this page.
How to preview an SUV wrap
There is no special SUV wrap mode. The Modifications tool edits any vehicle photo, and its Custom Vision mode takes your own wording.
- 1
Take a photo of the whole SUV
Stand at a front or rear corner in daylight so the doors, roof and wheels are all in the frame.
- 2
Open the Modifications tool
Upload your photo and switch to Custom Vision.
- 3
Name the color, the finish and what stays
In the Modification Goals box, say the color and finish (for example satin desert sand tan) and list what must stay: windows, wheels, tires, roof rails and background.
- 4
Compare and refine
Look at the result next to your original. If the finish looks glossier than you asked for, try another word such as flat or satin and run it again.
Colors and finishes to try
Midnight blue
A deep navy on a white SUV. It came out as a dark, glossy navy, which is what we asked for.
Sand tan
A tan on a dark gray SUV. We asked for satin, and the result looks glossy and reads as gold-bronze rather than pale sand.
Two renders for two ideas
Try one color per render on the same photo so you can compare them side by side.
What a picture cannot tell you
A render shows whether you like the color. It cannot show the film brand, the price, how the edges at the door gaps, roof rails and bumpers are finished, or how the film wears. Wrap sellers publish color guides, but they sell film and render tools, so use them as a list of ideas rather than a ranking.
- Ask a shop for a real film sample and hold it against your SUV in daylight.
- Ask what is wrapped and what is not: door jambs, roof rails, bumper covers and the tailgate.
- Ask how long the job takes and what the warranty covers.
- Get a quote for your own SUV; a render does not give a price.
Photo tips
- Use daylight and avoid parking where trees or buildings reflect strongly in the paint.
- Stand at a front or rear corner and keep the whole SUV, wheels included, in the frame.
- Wash the SUV first; dirt reads as texture and confuses the edit.
- Use the same photo for every color so the comparisons are fair.
Two Modification Goals to paste
We used these requests for the examples. Copy one into Modification Goals, swap the colors and background words for your own, and delete anything that does not apply.
- Change ONLY the paint color: wrap the SUV body in gloss midnight blue vinyl instead of white; keep the windows, wheels, tires, bumpers, grille, mirrors, roof rails, street, houses, trees and the camera angle exactly the same; keep the grille plain and blank with no emblem
- Change ONLY the paint color: wrap the SUV body in satin desert sand tan vinyl instead of dark gray; keep the windows, wheels, tires, bumpers, tail lights, roof rails, driveway, house and the camera angle exactly the same
What the AI does well and where it slips
The new body color usually covers the doors, fenders, hood, mirrors and tailgate, and the wheels, glass, roof rails and chrome mostly stay put. Three things slip: the finish (our satin request looked glossier), the painted bumper covers (they changed color although we asked to keep the bumpers), and the pavement, which looked slightly different after each edit. Badges and lettering are not reliable, so treat this page as a color test. If a render misses, rerun it with shorter, plainer wording.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free SUV wrap visualizer that uses a photo of my own SUV?
Yes. Sign in with email or Google, upload a photo of your SUV or crossover, and describe the wrap color and finish in the Modification Goals box. Most new accounts get 5 free credits that last 30 days, and a standard render uses 1 credit. Free renders carry a WheelAI watermark. Wrap shops and film makers show colors on swatches or sample vehicles; this edits your own picture.
Which SUV wrap colors and finishes can I try?
Any color you can name, in matte, satin or gloss. Our examples use gloss midnight blue and satin desert sand tan. Name the finish, and expect the model to be loose with it: our gloss blue came out glossy, but the satin tan came out glossier than we asked for.
Will the AI recolor only the painted body?
Mostly. In our two examples the doors, fenders, hood, mirrors and the painted part of the bumpers changed. The windows, wheels, tires, roof rails, grille, black lower cladding and chrome trim stayed. We asked to keep the bumpers, and the painted bumper covers changed color anyway, so check that part of your own render.
Which colors suit an SUV?
That is a matter of taste, and wrap sellers have opinions. The TunedRides Team guide "Car Wrap Colors: Every Shade, Finish, and What Works on Your Car" (May 13, 2026) says softer-lined SUVs and crossovers suit neutral or structured colors such as matte black, satin grey, satin white or subdued metallics, and says to preview a color on your actual car before booking because a swatch can look wrong on a particular body shape. TunedRides sells its own render tool, so treat it as one opinion. Rendering your own SUV is the quick way to test it.
Does the render show the real cost, the install time or how long a wrap lasts?
No. A picture says nothing about price, film quality, install quality or wear. A larger vehicle needs more film and more work, so ask a shop for a quote on your own SUV, and ask to see a real film sample outdoors.
Can I preview a partial wrap such as a hood, roof or stripes?
Yes, with the same tool. Name the one part to change and say that the rest stays the original color. We have separate pages for the hood, the roof and racing stripes, and one for chrome delete, which turns chrome trim black.
Are the example SUVs real customer vehicles?
No. They are AI-drawn generic crossovers, made with our own image model. We asked for blank grilles, but the white SUV still has a small oval badge in the grille and the gray one has a small round badge and unreadable lettering on the tailgate. They are AI artifacts and appear in both the before and the after picture. No vehicle maker is affiliated with or endorses this page.
How is this different from the car wrap and pickup truck wrap pages?
Those pages cover cars and pickups. This page is about a body color change on an SUV or crossover, with wording for roof rails, lower cladding and tail lights. The tool is the same; only the Modification Goals wording differs.
