Before and after examples

Each pair is one vehicle photo and the same photo after one Modification Goals request, sent through the same image model, step count and request wording that Custom Vision uses. Each after-image is a single run. Before photos were cleaned with the same model to remove brand-style badges. The full request text sits under each pair.

BeforeAI-drawn sample: a red two-door coupe in a parking lot seen from a front corner
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same coupe with a red center hood scoop facing forward
Red generic coupe stand-in. Modification Goals: "Add one center hood scoop painted the same red as the car, facing forward, in the middle of the hood; change ONLY the hood. Keep the paint, wheels, headlights, windows, parking lot and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: one forward-facing scoop in the middle of the hood, painted the same red, and the paint, wheels, headlights, windows and parking lot look the same. Differences to know about: the scoop opening is drawn black inside. Extra changes: none that we could see.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a black four-door sedan parked on a city street seen from a front corner
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same sedan with two slatted vents, one on each side of the hood
Black generic sedan stand-in. Modification Goals: "Add two small matte black hood vents with slats, one on each side of the hood; change ONLY the hood. Keep the paint, wheels, headlights, windows, street and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: two small slatted vents, one on each side of the hood, and the paint, wheels, headlights, windows and street look the same. Differences to know about: on black paint the vents read as subtle dark slots; on a lighter car they would stand out more. Extra changes: none that we could see.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a white pickup truck in a driveway seen from a front corner
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same pickup with a raised white scoop on the hood
White generic pickup stand-in. Modification Goals: "Add a raised cowl induction bulge in the center of the hood, painted the same white as the truck, rising toward the windshield; change ONLY the hood. Keep the paint, wheels, grille, windows, driveway and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: a raised scoop in the center of the hood, painted the same white, and the paint, wheels, grille, windows and driveway look the same. Not followed: we asked for a cowl induction bulge, which opens toward the windshield; this one opens toward the front, so it is a forward-facing scoop. Extra changes: none that we could see.

All before and after images are AI-drawn samples from our own image model, not photos of real customer vehicles. The vehicles are plain generic models with blank plates. Under each pair we list which parts of the request worked, which did not, and any change we never asked for.

See a hood scoop on your own car first

A scoop or vents change the whole front of a car, and fitting a real one often means cutting the hood. WheelAI redraws a photo of your own car with the scoop you describe, so you can compare a center scoop, a raised scoop and vents before you buy or cut anything.

The example vehicles below are AI-drawn generic vehicles, not photos of real customer vehicles, and no vehicle maker or parts maker is affiliated with this page.

How to preview a hood scoop

There is no special mode for this part. The Modifications tool edits any vehicle photo, and its Custom Vision mode takes your own wording.

  1. 1

    Take a front corner photo

Stand a few steps back, a little above the hood if you can, with the whole hood in the frame.

  2. 2

    Open the Modifications tool

Upload your photo and switch to Custom Vision.

  3. 3

Describe the scoop and what stays

Say the type, where it sits, which way it faces and its color, and list what must not change: paint, wheels, headlights, windows and background.

  4. 4

    Compare and refine

Check which way the opening faces and rerun if it is wrong.

Scoop types you can describe

Center scoop

A single scoop in the middle of the hood that faces forward, like our red coupe example.

Cowl induction

A raised bulge that opens at the back, toward the windshield.

Hood vents

Slatted openings, often one each side, that let engine heat out, like our black sedan example.

Cosmetic stick-on

A scoop shape fixed on top of the hood with no opening into the engine bay.

What a picture cannot tell you

A render shows whether you like the look. Before you buy a scoop, ask about the following.

  • Whether it is functional and must seal to your air intake, or only cosmetic.
  • Whether your hood has to be cut, or the scoop sticks or bolts on.
  • How it drains rain and keeps water away from the engine.
  • The paint match to your color code.

Three Modification Goals to paste

We used these requests for the examples. Copy one into Modification Goals, swap the scoop, color and background words for your own, and delete anything that does not apply.

  • Add one center hood scoop painted the same red as the car, facing forward, in the middle of the hood; change ONLY the hood. Keep the paint, wheels, headlights, windows, parking lot and the camera angle exactly the same
  • Add two small matte black hood vents with slats, one on each side of the hood; change ONLY the hood. Keep the paint, wheels, headlights, windows, street and the camera angle exactly the same
  • Add a raised cowl induction bulge in the center of the hood, painted the same white as the truck, rising toward the windshield; change ONLY the hood. Keep the paint, wheels, grille, windows, driveway and the camera angle exactly the same

What the AI does well and where it slips

Scoops and vents are edits the model handles well: they land on the hood in body color and the rest of the car stays the same. The weak spot is direction: our cowl bulge request came back facing forward. Say which way the opening faces and check it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free hood scoop visualizer that uses my own photo?

Yes. Sign in with email or Google, upload a photo of your car or truck, and describe the scoop in the Modification Goals box. Most new accounts get 5 free credits that last 30 days, and a standard render uses 1 credit. Free renders carry a WheelAI watermark. It edits your own picture rather than a catalog photo.

Which scoop types can I try?

Any type you can describe: a forward-facing center scoop, a raised cowl bulge that opens toward the windshield, or slatted vents. Our examples show a center scoop, two vents and a raised scoop; our cowl request came back facing forward instead.

Does a hood scoop do anything?

Some do. A functional scoop is sealed to the engine air intake or an intercooler and feeds it outside air. Vents and extractors let hot air out. Many stick-on scoops are only for looks. A render cannot tell you which kind you are looking at.

What photo works best?

A front corner photo from a few steps back, a little above the hood if you can, so the whole hood is visible.

Can I try a scoop in a different color than my paint?

Yes. Name the color, such as matte black or carbon-look, or say painted to match. Our three examples were all asked for in body color or matte black.

What if the AI changes something I did not ask for?

It can. The image model redraws the whole photo. In our examples the rest of the car stayed the same, but one request for a cowl bulge came back facing the wrong way. Compare the result with your original and rerun if something changed.

Will an open scoop let rain into the engine bay?

It can. Open scoops and vents let in water as well as air, so many have drains or baffles. Ask the seller about drainage for the scoop you pick.

Ready to see a scoop on your car?

Compare a scoop and a pair of vents on the same photo, then ask a shop whether your hood needs cutting.
