Before and after examples

Each pair is one vehicle photo and the same photo after one Modification Goals request, sent through the same image model, step count and request wording that Custom Vision uses. Each after-image is a single run. Before photos were cleaned with the same model to remove brand-style badges, which also redrew the grilles as plain mesh. The full request text sits under each pair.

BeforeAI-drawn sample: a white regular cab pickup truck with a gray front bumper on a dirt road
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same pickup with a black tubular guard in front of the grille
White generic pickup stand-in. Modification Goals: "Add a black powder-coated steel full grille guard that covers the grille and wraps around both headlights, mounted to the front bumper; change ONLY the front of the truck. Keep the paint, wheels, windows, dirt road and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: a black tubular guard now stands in front of the grille, mounted at the bumper, and the paint, wheels, windows and dirt road look the same. Not followed: it does not wrap around the headlights as we asked, so it looks closer to a tall bull bar than a full guard. Extra changes: the gray front bumper turned black.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a silver SUV in a driveway seen from a front corner
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same SUV with a black tubular bull bar and skid plate across the front bumper
Silver generic SUV stand-in. Modification Goals: "Add a black tubular bull bar across the center of the front bumper with a small skid plate at the bottom, not covering the headlights; change ONLY the front of the SUV. Keep the paint, wheels, headlights, driveway and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: a black tubular bull bar across the center of the front bumper with a skid plate at the bottom, headlights uncovered, and the paint, wheels, headlights and driveway look the same. Extra changes: the blank front plate is gone, hidden or removed where the bar now sits.
BeforeAI-drawn sample: a maroon pickup truck on a gravel lot seen from a front corner
AfterAI-drawn sample: the same pickup with a polished stainless grille guard and headlight hoop
Maroon generic pickup stand-in. Modification Goals: "Add a polished stainless steel tubular grille guard with wrap-around headlight guards mounted to the front bumper; change ONLY the front of the truck. Keep the paint, wheels, windows, gravel lot and the camera angle exactly the same". Followed: a polished stainless tubular guard in front of the grille, with a hoop around the headlight on the visible side, and the paint, wheels, windows and gravel lot look the same. Extra changes: the dark gray lower bumper looks glossier than in the before.

All before and after images are AI-drawn samples from our own image model, not photos of real customer vehicles. The vehicles are plain generic models with blank plates. Under each pair we list which parts of the request worked, which did not, and any change we never asked for.

See a grille guard on your own truck first

A guard changes the whole face of a truck, and the size and finish make a big difference. WheelAI redraws a front photo of your own vehicle with the guard you describe, so you can compare a full guard with a bull bar, and black with stainless, before you buy.

The example vehicles below are AI-drawn generic vehicles, not photos of real customer vehicles, and no vehicle maker or parts maker is affiliated with this page.

How to preview a grille guard

There is no special mode for this part. The Modifications tool edits any vehicle photo, and its Custom Vision mode takes your own wording.

  1. 1

    Take a front corner photo

Stand a few steps back with the bumper, grille and both headlights in the frame.

  2. 2

    Open the Modifications tool

Upload your photo and switch to Custom Vision.

  3. 3

Describe the guard and what stays

Say full guard or bull bar, the finish, and whether it covers the headlights, and list what must not change: paint, bumper, plate, wheels and background.

  4. 4

    Compare and refine

Check the bumper and plate against your original and rerun if they changed.

Guard types you can describe

Full grille guard

A frame of tubes over the grille that wraps around both headlights.

Bull bar

A single loop across the center of the bumper, often with a skid plate under it.

Black powder coat

A dark finish that blends with black trim, like our white pickup and silver SUV examples.

Polished stainless

A bright finish that stands out on darker paint, like our maroon pickup example.

What a picture cannot tell you

A render shows whether you like the look. Before you buy a guard, ask about the following.

  • The exact fit and mounting for your make, model and year.
  • Whether it works with your parking sensors, front camera or radar.
  • Whether tow hooks must come off or the front plate must move.
  • The material, such as steel, aluminum or stainless, and the weight it adds.

Three Modification Goals to paste

We used these requests for the examples. Copy one into Modification Goals, swap the guard, finish and background words for your own, and delete anything that does not apply.

  • Add a black powder-coated steel full grille guard that covers the grille and wraps around both headlights, mounted to the front bumper; change ONLY the front of the truck. Keep the paint, wheels, windows, dirt road and the camera angle exactly the same
  • Add a black tubular bull bar across the center of the front bumper with a small skid plate at the bottom, not covering the headlights; change ONLY the front of the SUV. Keep the paint, wheels, headlights, driveway and the camera angle exactly the same
  • Add a polished stainless steel tubular grille guard with wrap-around headlight guards mounted to the front bumper; change ONLY the front of the truck. Keep the paint, wheels, windows, gravel lot and the camera angle exactly the same

What the AI does well and where it slips

The model draws tubular guards and bull bars in the right place and keeps the paint and background. The weak spots: it tends to recolor the bumper behind the guard, a full guard does not always wrap the headlights, and a bar over the plate area can make the plate disappear. Add the bumper and plate to the list of things to keep.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free grille guard visualizer that uses my own photo?

Yes. Sign in with email or Google, upload a front photo of your truck or SUV, and describe the guard in the Modification Goals box. Most new accounts get 5 free credits that last 30 days, and a standard render uses 1 credit. Free renders carry a WheelAI watermark. It edits your own picture rather than a catalog photo.

What is the difference between a grille guard and a bull bar?

A full grille guard covers the grille and usually wraps around the headlights. A bull bar is a smaller tube across the center or lower part of the front bumper and leaves the headlights open. Our examples show both, and one full-guard request came back looking more like a bull bar.

Which finishes can I try?

Any finish you can name, such as black powder coat, textured black or polished stainless steel. Our examples show black on a white pickup and a silver SUV and stainless on a maroon pickup.

What photo works best?

A front corner photo from a few steps back, with the whole bumper, grille and both headlights in the frame.

Will a guard block my sensors or camera?

The render cannot tell you. Many trucks have parking sensors, a front camera or radar in or near the grille. Ask the seller whether a guard is made to work with them on your vehicle.

What if the AI changes something I did not ask for?

It can. The image model redraws the whole photo. In our examples it also changed the bumper color or finish, and on the SUV the front plate disappeared. Compare the result with your original and rerun if something changed.

Does the render show how the guard mounts?

No. It shows a look only. Guards bolt to the frame or bumper, and some need tow hooks removed or the plate moved. Ask the seller or an installer about your vehicle.

Ready to see a guard on your truck?

Compare a full guard and a bull bar on the same photo, then ask the seller about fit and sensors.
